I often find myself reading three or four books at the same time.
Sometimes the author appears on YouTube. Sometimes the author runs a business, writes across genres, works as a broadcaster, lives in another country, or happens to be someone I know.
We live in an age of watching, but reading still holds the strongest attraction for me. A person can now arrive through both video and print.

The blank page may be the place where the unconscious, character and intelligence most quietly appear. When a person keeps writing, one character at a time, something begins to rise from the bottom. Writing does not always need a polished goal. It can also be a way of lifting oneself up from the lowest point.
Who, then, can easily judge what someone has written about their own life?

Perhaps it was around 2018. Having felt the force of writing myself, I began leading a writing group almost without a plan. Around the 280th meeting I paused it to focus on business, and the contracted book I had to finish also kept being delayed. I started CEO Writing again in 2024 and brought it to a close at fifty sessions this August.
After the last of the summer heat, at the threshold where autumn arrives, a second cohort began in September. At least in the space of writing, I want people to be able to share their words and feelings with nothing at stake between them.

I am grateful for friends with whom I can read the tacit knowledge that feeds my curiosity about the world, and with whom I can write new worlds.

Perhaps this is what happens when reading and writing keep working on a person. I have begun planning a second book.
